Jing,
Glad to hear from you.
I believe the installation is done. It actually just needs to copy some
jar files into OGSA under Tomcat, create some directories and
configuration files there.
But there are a lot of works in configuring the OGDA-DAI for
a data source which I am afraid has to be one of the followings.
MySQL
Oracle
DB2
Xindice
I have sent a mail to OGSA-DAI group to ask them if there is a way
to integrate other data sources. I couldn't find this info from their
existing OGDA-DAI document. The drivers for MySQL and Xindice, etc,
can be found under
/usr/local/devtools/jakarta-tomcat/webapps/ogsa/WEB-INF/lib.
To complete our installation and evaluation task, we need to have a
database for testing. MySQL is definitely the best choice.
After the installation, I realized that I don't have root permission to
shutdown
and restart the Tomcat. Therefore it looks we have to wait for you to come
back
to your office next Monday.
I suggest we split our tasks as following.
Bing: Continue reading documents to figure out how to setup a data source
in OGSA-DAI's environment.
Jing: Make sure a MySQL instance is running. Create a user account for
testing our OGSA-DAI installation.
Sincerely,
Bing

Hi, bing:
How are you? I had a internet access problem today. I am sorry to reply so
late. I read the files gdsf_config.xml and ExampleDatabaseExample.xml.
Yes, there is a MySQl running in dev.nceas.ucsb.edu. But I not familiar
with it. I need to figure out how to add user account for you. Moreover, I
think we need to create a new tablespace and create a new db named
ogsadai(or this
database will be automatically generated?)
You know, the meeting schedule is busy (have lots of social stuff in
evening too). I am not sure if I can do this in here. If I couldn't make
it, may we do that in next Monday?
Thanks!
Jing
