Hi Norbert,
      thanks for the feedback. Currently we use the
ptolemy.actor.lib.io.LineWriter to log some things to a file.
There is a certain overhead to doing that though (one day's log data for
one model is currently about 1Gb). Log4j should enable us to define a
number of 'test points' in the model though and then selectively turn them
on and off. I guess my main question is whether anyone else has had the
same issue in the past and if they have any experience in solving it. If
not then I would be interested to maybe discuss some of the other options
and understand some of the associated pros and cons.
