What happens when you close the first Kepler instance; are the connections to
the subsequent Keplers closed or does the first Kepler process stay alive until
all the subsequent Keplers quit?

What about running the HSQL server in its own process?

We could have a config file that specifies how to access the cache: embedded,
embedded server, or standalone server.
