Summary: kepler hangs when home directory is on an NFS mount
           Product: Kepler
           Version: 1.0.0beta2
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: blocker
          Priority: P2
         Component: core
        AssignedTo: berkley at nceas.ucsb.edu
        ReportedBy: dennisvd at nikhef.nl
         QAContact: kepler-dev at ecoinformatics.org

When I start kepler.sh in a freshly unzipped kepler distribution, the process
hangs on the splash screen.

Investigating the state of Java shows it is hanging in a 'futex' system call.

This happens when the home directory is on an NFS mount; it doesn't happen for
a user with a home directory on the local disk.

This is the case both for Sun Java 1.4.2_12 and 1.5.0_08.

The systems that (so far) show this behaviour: Scientific Linux 3.0.7 and
CentOS 3.8.
