EML metadata

Hi Cheryl,
As I mentioned in my earlier email, you can download LTER metadata as
well as OBFS and NRS metadata from the KNB portal. The portal provides
a simple search facility, and a programming API. Here's an example of
an LTER dataset metadata in HTML format:
http://knb.ecoinformatics.org/knb/servlet/metacat?action=read&qformat=knb&docid=knb-lter-mcm-limndoc.1.1
and you can download the same metadata in EML's XML format:
http://knb.ecoinformatics.org/knb/servlet/metacat?action=read&qformat=xml&docid=knb-lter-mcm-limndoc.1.1
We have two people at the LTER Network office working on harvesting
current metadata from all sites and putting that information in the KNB
portal. I am hoping they will be going live with several sites soon. I
think it is the best place for you to try to get current metadata from
the LTER program.
We have an XSL stylesheet written that takes EML metadata and converts
it to NBII BDP metadata if that is useful to you. The most recent
version is available from CVS, and is currently version 1.21, available
here:
http://cvs.ecoinformatics.org/cvs/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/eml/lib/eml2tonbii/eml2tonbii.xsl?rev=1.21&content-type=text/xml
Let me know if we can help with accesing the portal programatically (we
have several utility libraries available).
