Folks:
The EML 2.0 workshop is fast approaching and I wanted to get you some
information to help you finalize your travel arrangements. The meeting
will be held at the Sevilleta Research Station conference center. The
center is located 55 miles south of Albuquerque on the Sevilleta
National Wildlife Refuge. Those of you that have been there know that it
is a great place to get work done. There's 200,000 hectares of quiet
work-enhancing isolation complete with resident wildlife. There is a T-1
internet connection and the facilities are all wired and now wireless
(802.11b).
The workshop will be held as originally scheduled on April 24th and
25th. April 23rd and April 26th are travel days. We want you for a full
two-days on the 24th and 25th. Albuquerque Sunport is service by all
major airlines although it's certainly easier to get here from the west
on Southwest, America West, and United - if you not opposed to flying
1000 miles out of the way we are also serviced by American, Delta and
Northwest - Frontier flies in here too but I'm not sure from where.
I will arrange lodging and meals for you - all you need to arrange is
your flight and local transportation. Because of 4 other major workshops
at UNM in and around this one it will be impossible for me to provide
van transportation for all of you so I suggest coordinating to get a
couple of rental cars. Given the small number of us it shouldn't be hard.
I will provide you with more logistics and homework assignments next
week as we get closer. Also, look forward to the inaugural EML 2.0 5K
desert walk/run/crawl during the meeting so bring appropriate footwear.
Please don't hesitate to ask any specific questions - since this is such
a small meeting I don't mind fielding them personally.
Thanks for your cooperation and participation.
James
