Abstract:<br>

style="font-size:12pt;"><font face="Tahoma" size="2"><span
style="font-size:11pt;">Tropical forests are incredibly
dynamic, exhibiting both rapid and long-term changes in
growth, mortality, reproductive activity, and primary
productivity.</span></font><font face="Tahoma" size="2"><span
style="font-size:11pt;">
</span></font><font face="Tahoma" size="2"><span
style="font-size:11pt;">Cloud cover and light
availability have been shown to strongly influence
tropical forests, however, at the ecosystem scale the
competing effects of light, temperature and
precipitation have been difficult to assess.</span></font><font
face="Tahoma" size="2"><span style="font-size:11pt;">

style="font-size:11pt;">In this talk I will present work
using satellite measures of cloud cover to compare the
response of seasonally dry and wet tropical forests from
three regions, the Hawaiian Islands, U.S.A., Barro
Colorado Island, Panama, and Luquillo, Puerto Rico.</span></font><font
