Dear All,

Please join us for an NCEAS Roundtable on _*Friday*_, *February 28th* at 
12:15 pm.

Drs. Stacy Rebich Hespanha & Mary Hunsicker
NCEAS Postdoctoral Fellows

will lead a discussion on:

"Using virtual collaboration to replace or supplement carbon-intensive 
research travel: barriers, best practices, and opportunities for innovation"

We will be extending an earlier discussion of the environmental ethics 
of research travel to take a closer look at virtual meetings and 
collaboration. To prepare for this discussion, please take a look at the 
readings posted on the following blog: 
http://roundtable.nceas.ucsb.edu/2014/02/21/virtual-collaboration/. Come 
to prepared to discuss your perceptions of the obstacles faced by 
would-be virtual collaborators and your ideas for how some of these 
barriers could be overcome. We have alloted time for each person to 
share his/her idea(s) on innovative ways to overcome barriers (2 minutes 
per idea). We encourage you to prepare 1 powerpoint for each idea and 
send them to Mary (hunsicker at nceas.ucsb.edu) prior to the Roundtable.
