The Snowbird Charrette: Integrative Interdisciplinary Collaboration in  
Environmental Research Design

Ed Hackett will be talking about a really neat experiment he desgined  
and conducted. In it, eight interdisciplinary groups of grad students  
with different background characteristics were given a research  
question, locked in a room for three days to develop a research  
proposal, and then evaluated by a blue ribbon panel of top ranking  
ecologists. The study is designed to see if and how grads trained  
through IGERT programs differ in their ability to design  
interdisciplinary research projects.
