[kepler-dev] python actor using gui deadlocks

Hi Christopher,

While testing the Python demo workflows, Jianwu and I noticed
that the Python actors using GUI components deadlock. Attached
is a workflow that deadlocks in Vergil. I also found that
$PTII/ptolemy/actor/lib/python/demo/Ptolemnizer/Ptolemnizer.xml
deadlocks. It appears that ptolemy.vergil.actor.IOPortController
is causing this based on the stack traces and its changes since
Kepler 2.3.

Can you take a look?
