Did you add the environment variables under the LSEnvironment key in Kepler's
Info.plist?  ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist assumes LSEnvironment, but you have to
explicitly declare it for an application's Info.plist.

If this works in ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist:
