Hi,

Just came across this interesting article on workflow interoperability that
was partly inspired by the 2007 NSF/Mellon Workshop on Scientific and
Scholarly Workflow that Bertram and I attended. The paper is well written
and articulates many of the interoperability issues well, including a nice
synopsis of the importance of Ptolemy's Model of Computation and its use in
Kepler.

Three fundamental dimensions of scientific workflow interoperability: Model
of computation, language, and execution environment
