The ModelReference actor runs externally defined workflows. This currently
breaks some functionality in the wrm:

* opening a workflow from previous runs does not work since the external
workflows are not stored in provenance.

* if there's an error in the external workflow, the execution row is not
highlighted red in the current window.

* sometimes a new, separate row appears referring to the external workflow.
(this might not be a bug, depending on your point of view).
