Hi Madhu,
Actually, the problem is that the ptII svn server is not responding for you.
It works for me:
bash-3.2$ svn co -r 55999 svn://source.eecs.berkeley.edu/chess/ptII/trunk ptII
A ptII/thales
A ptII/thales/actor
A ptII/thales/actor/gui
A ptII/thales/actor/gui/SingleWindowHTMLViewer.java
A ptII/thales/actor/gui/SingleWindowConfiguration.java
A ptII/thales/actor/gui/NavigableEffigy.java
A ptII/thales/actor/gui/ShortTitleTabbedPaneUI.java
It could be that your svn port is blocked somewhere. Try
using telnet:
bash-3.2$ telnet source.eecs.berkeley.edu 3690
Trying 128.32.48.234...
Connected to source.eecs.berkeley.edu.
Escape character is '^]'.
( success ( 1 2 ( ANONYMOUS ) ( edit-pipeline svndiff1 absent-entries ) ) ) quit
quit
Connection closed by foreign host.
bash-3.2$
See http://chess.eecs.berkeley.edu/ptexternal
for other ways to check out ptII, such as by using http.
