Also, for what it's worth, this problem occurs with r21314.  However, with
r21218, the commit button seems to behave like the apply button in that the
ports window is not closed.  The one was apparently fixed somewhere between
r21218 and r21314, but the original bug for which this ticket was opened
remains.
