Under both linux and Windows, there is currently no way to clear the results of
a search on the components tab.  There used to be a reset button, and
apparently there is still a small x in Mac OS X, but some convenient
functionality seems to be missing for 2 major OSes.

The cancel button seems to be infrequently active, so rather than deactivating
it, it could change behavior to act like the old reset button.
