Although the transformation to the HSQL date format is a change, its probably
going to be necessary for many systems.  In many ways it is similar to how the
DataManager library does name-mangling to deal with database-specific
limitations in naming.  As long as you are not losing or changing information,
I think the transformation to the right date format for insert into the
database is a good idea.
