[kepler-dev] Problem checking out code with read-only access

I have a read only CVS account (whitehead). I followed the
instructions to the letter for checking out kepler via eclipse.  I get
a bunch of errors relating to locking rights on the server, a google
search indicated the server might not be properly set up for read only
access.

Error 2006-05-25 13:23:56.196 The server reported an error while
performing the "cvs checkout" command.
Error 2006-05-25 13:23:56.204 : cvs [checkout aborted]: read lock
failed - giving up
Error 2006-05-25 13:23:56.203 : cvs checkout: failed to obtain dir
lock in repository `/cvs/kepler-docs'
Error 2006-05-25 13:23:56.203 : cvs checkout: failed to create lock
directory for `/cvs/kepler-docs' (/cvs/kepler-docs/#cvs.lock):
Permission denied
Warning 2006-05-25 13:23:56.203 : cvs checkout: warning: cannot write
to history file /cvs/CVSROOT/history: Permission denied

Anyone know where the problem could be?
