[seek-kr] Re: next steps for KR/SMS

Hi Deana -

The food web ontology project is composed of various sub-ontologies, all of
which are in the place Matt indicated. They are combined in a project
called EcologicalNetworks. As a quick and dirty way of viewing the ontology
without having Protege, I put a set of html files that allow you to browse
the ontology in the html folder off WowKB. I did the same for the
Measurements ontology in a folder called MeasurementsHtml off the
kr/ontologies folder. In either case, load index.html into your browser to
view the concept hierarchy.

This display assumes some familiarity with the Protege knowledge model. I
think the best place to learn about it is
http://protege.stanford.edu/publications/ontology_development/ontology101.ht
ml, or perhaps some of the other Protege documentation at
http://protege.stanford.edu/useit.html.

Hope this is useful. More to come soon, I'm just very buried right now with
getting ready to get married on Saturday, so I might be kinda slow...

Rich

Deana,

I think Rich's food web ontology is actually from a different non-SEEK
project called "Webs on the Web (WOW)". You can see it by checking out
another module of CVS (wow) in addition to the seek module you already
have. If you only want the ontology from WOW, you can just check out
"wow/WowKB".

You need Protege to view both this and the Measurements ontology that
Rich put in place. Hopefully he can generate some images soon and add
those to cvs for people that want a quick glance but don't have Protege.
