Summary: Need for new IPCC/Hydro1K data (and metadata) on
                    EarthGrid
           Product: Kepler
           Version: 1.0.0beta3
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: data access
        AssignedTo: dpennington at lternet.edu
        ReportedBy: higgins at nceas.ucsb.edu
         QAContact: kepler-dev at ecoinformatics.org

Currently, Hydro1K and IPCC datasets are stored on the SRB and referenced by
EarthGrid EML metadata on KNB. There have been problems with maintaining the
SRB EarthGrid servers for reliable data access. In addition, new IPCC and
Hydro1K data is becoming available.

We thus need to get the latest version of IPCC and Hydro1K data into KNB
(Metacat) repositories for reliable future access. (i.e. store both EML and the
actual data into Metacat)

Although especially the Hydro1K data is large, storage on Metacat should
probably not be a big issue (data is stored on the server file system)
