[kepler-dev] Actor popup menus in Ptolemy and Kepler

Hi Dan,

One of the issues here is that the re-design has not been fully implemented
so it doesn't reflect the final plan.

You can see the plan for the context sensitive menus here:

http://www.kepler-project.org/Wiki.jsp?page=MenuAndToolBarReDesign

The configure ports and configure units menu items will be subsumed (and
won't be there) when the tabbed configure dialogs get implemented because
you will then go to one tabbed dialog to configure everything for the given
element you have right clicked on.

See the configure dialogs designs at:
http://www.kepler-project.org/Wiki.jsp?page=WorkflowDirectorAndActorDialogs

The name is on the general tab and can easily be changed there, thus the
rename menu item will not be necessary either once this is implemented.

The general plan was to encapsulate all the various configuration settings
for an element into one place the user could go to do these things instead
of having to pick multiple different menu items. This would also help
reduce the number of current menu items which we needed to do in order to
make room for more menu item planned for the future to support additional
functionality.

Hope this helps clarify.

Subject: Actor popup menus in Ptolemy and Kepler

Hi All,
The Ptolemy project has changed the menus that popup when you right
click on an actor as shown below. A nice improvement is the 'Customize'
submenu which combines several items as shown.

The current Kepler Popup menu is also shown below. Maybe the three
'Configure ...' menus should be put into a submenu? And what happened to the
'Rename' menu in Kepler? Giving an acor a custom name is very useful for
annotating workflows!

Dan
