Jing,
    You were asking about monitoring Java memory use the other day. I 
did some searches and happened to find 'JConsole', a utility that Sun 
apparently distributes with J2SE 5.0 that monitors not only memory use 
but lots of other things! See

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it would be very useful.
