provide mechanism for user to save search results via "shopping cart" idea 
where users marks (checks) which items they want to save and they are saved 
off somewhere

three display alternatives in the UI are:
1) somehow integrate "saved items" to display in the current left pane
2) launch new window from a "saved items" button
3) add a "saved items" tab
