That's a good idea... although we might want to consider the extent to
which we want to re-invent matlab/R/IDL/numericalpython/etc.  One approach
is to make good use of the R actor, PythonScript actor, etc to express
these tasks.   I was wondering whether Octave (free Matlab clone) had the
programming hooks necessary to drop it in as a replacement for Matlab in
the Matlab expression evaluator, but it seems that it doesn't.
