Hello all -
EML 2.1.0 is released as you know, but resources limited what features
we were able to add. So this means that many enhancements suggested in
the past have barely been discussed. Several scientific groups have
expressed an interest in working further with EML for their data types--
for example the.genome sequencing and GIS communities, and the NEON
network. Those working with techniques for semantic annotation are also
interested. So it is clear that we should get some discussions going on
the directions the EML specification might take.

A good proportion of eml-dev will be at the LTER All Scientists Meeting
in Estes Park in September, as will members of several scientific
communities. This makes that meeting a great venue to start this
discussion. Mark Shildhauer, Matt Jones and I will be putting in a
proposal for a working group at that meeting.

Advance meeting registration runs till July 15. But after July 1,
lodging reservations are not guaranteed (which is why I am alerting you
now). I will send the working group proposal to this list by July 1.

Best regards,
Margaret O'Brien
