Regarding dateTime:
the path for this template can be shortened to 
attributeList/attribute/measurementScale/datetime

since attributeList appears in these schemas 
eml-dataTable.xsd
eml-entity.xsd
eml-spatialRaster.xsd
eml-spatialVector.xsd
eml-storedProcedure.xsd
eml-view.xsd
