Thanks Tim,

I nuked it.  

I just added a bunch of abbreviations.  I used unicode characters for
the greek characters and for the superscript 2 and 3 for squared and
cubed units.  Note that you have to use a unicode compliant text editor
to edit this file now.  Jedit is compliant...I'm not sure about xml-spy
and I'm pretty sure notepad will do something lame when confronted with
anything but windows ASCII.
