Hi Scott,
Sorry I haven't replied -- I've been on vacation last week. Thanks for
the new document you sent. We'll be trying to develop it further as
well and will post here as we discover issues. I think Dan addressed
your questions well.
Order of elements does in general matter in XML validation. We can
write content models that allow arbitrary order of the elements, but
that means a more complex schema and makes life more difficult for
applications that want to utilize EML. Thus, we have tried to specify a
logical order for the elements and only allow arbitrary order when it is
really needed. If there are areas that you think would benefit from a
relaxation of the order restrictions, please let us know where and why
and we can discuss a change.
Please do continue to report progress to this list so that we can all
benefit from the experience and contribute to the discussion of any
changes in EML that might come form this experience.
